Enbridge Line #5 Pipeline Threatens Great Lakes; Public Comment Needed

The League of Women Voters of Ashland and Bayfield Counties asks you to consider reading this article ( https://wcmcoop.com/2016/12/27/enbridge-line-5-pipeline-threatens-great-lakes-public-comment-needed/)  and making your comment to the USFS regarding their decision in the permitting of Enbridge Energy Partners Pipeline Line #5 that runs through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Bayfield County.

The pipeline, built in 1953 is 13 years beyond its life expectancy and has been in operation without a permit since 2013.  With the pipeline carrying 540,000 barrels of Alberta Tar Sands oil daily, a spill would be catastrophic for the Penokee and Ashland County watershed.  A public hearing to address risks is necessary.

LWV/ABC suggests a public hearing in Bayfield County before the USFS makes a decision regarding the permitting of Enbridge Energy Partners Pipeline Line #5.
