Dear Members and Friends,

I am pleased to provide information about funds available for non-profit organizations providing critical services in our area in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please help share the details below with local groups engaged in essential supportive activities now and in the future.

Both contributions and requests for funds continue to be welcome! Ruth Oppedahl, who we are fortunate to have back in our community, is the local contact.

Anne Chartier, President, League of Women Voters of Ashland and Bayfield Counties

What?

Grants up to $5,000 are available to eligible entities responding to community needs, or affected by COVID-19 in the Chequamegon Bay area.

Grant decisions are made by a small group of volunteers from throughout the Chequamegon Bay area with deep and broad connections to the needs of our region.

If you have questions, please contact the Community Philanthropy Department at

grantsinfo@dsacommunityfoundation.com.

Why?

The Chequama-Care Fund's goal is to support the urgent and immediate needs of organizations who are providing critical services that are necessary in our community, both now and after the crisis has passed. Qualified 501c3 and Section 170(c)(1) organizations who have experienced an increase in demand for their services or who are experiencing program delivery challenges due to the economic impacts of COVID-19 may apply.

Grant-making priorities can be found here.

Who?

The Chequama-Care Fund will help charities, schools or governmental units based or operating in Town of La Pointe, Red Cliff Reservation, Town of Russell, City of Bayfield, Town of Bayfield, and the boundaries of the Washburn School District and Ashland School District including Odanah, the central community of the Bad River Reservation.

APPLY

This Fund has a rolling deadline over the next months and makes grants as funding allows. Proposals begin with a very brief "letter of intent" through the online application portal. Letters of intent submitted under the "COVID-19" grant program in the portal will be reviewed within 24 hours of submittal. Proposals submitted by noon on Thursday will be included in the next review of proposals.

We regret that individuals are not eligible for one-to-one direct support through this Fund. Some churches and The Brick have discretionary or benevolence funds which may be able to provide direct assistance.
