January-March newsletter hot off the press!

Dear Members and Friends,

It is my pleasure to share with you our latest edition of The Leaguer, expertly designed by Pete Skoro with materials compiled by Dianne Judd.

You will find informative articles written by our board members, and details about many exciting events coming up in the days, weeks and months ahead.

This coming Saturday you will have three morning options: to participate in one of two Women’s Marches in Ashland and Hayward or join in honoring the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and other peace and justice makers in Bayfield.

On Wednesday, January 29 we look forward to the program related to health care’s ills and remedies presented by Dr. Dorothy Skye, along with local stakeholders, and audience participation.

On February 14 we will be honoring the League of Women Voters’ 100th birthday and showing love for our planet through action by joining the youth who hold a weekly climate strike at the Post Office in Ashland.

Later in February, groups in libraries throughout the area will be reading The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, by Elaine Weiss. Dates and details will be forthcoming.

If you have read this far, you probably already know that a fabulous gala centennial birthday bash is being planned by Linda Barnes, Linda Jorgenson, Gayle Chatfield, with other talented and creative people for March 8, International Women’s Day.

Do save that date for a delightful evening at the Harbor View Event Center; you don’t want to miss it!

We are very excited about the prospect of a party that will be lots of fun, while raising funds for our local League, that we are all so proud to be associated with.

Regardless of our political stripes, we all recognize the value of ensuring that our flawed but enviable democracy thrives.

Happy reading!
Anne
